‘Build an online community’ is a key part of many SaaS marketing strategies.
But I would argue that it’s not always necessary; if every SaaS brand had an online community then it would be a very crowded place!
Be realistic about what’s required to start an online community as well as what you’re going to get out of it. There are many alternatives out there which don’t require building something up from scratch.
I recently wrote an article for co-working platform Othership which matches freelancers and workers with workspaces. They also have a thriving online community of remote workers from all over Europe.
In the post, I talk to founder Ben Carew about the ‘blood sweat and tears’ involved in creating and nurturing a community and how it’s not a decision to be taken lightly!
